Terms of Use

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of TrayPal, an independently operated service (“we,” “our,” or “TrayPal”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use TrayPal.

1. Eligibility and student accounts

TrayPal is intended for use by currently enrolled students and authorized staff at participating educational institutions. To create an account, you must have a valid institutional email address in a domain authorized for your institution (for example, a .edu address). We reserve the right to restrict or revoke access based on email domain eligibility at any time.

You may create only one account per person. Creating multiple accounts, sharing your account credentials with others, or using another person’s account is prohibited. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. If you become aware of unauthorized access to your account, you must notify us immediately at support@traypal.app.

You must be at least 13 years of age to use the Service. By using TrayPal, you represent that you meet this minimum age requirement. If you are under 18, you represent that your parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms on your behalf.

2. Institutional and school use terms

2.1 Dining operators and administrators

Dining operators, dining directors, and institutional administrators who are granted access to TrayPal administrative tools (the admin dashboard, Command Center, or analytics surfaces) must access student data only through those designated tools and only for the purpose of operating and improving dining services. These users are bound by these Terms, by their institution’s data governance policies, and by any applicable data processing agreements executed between TrayPal and the institution. Administrative access may not be shared, transferred, or used for any purpose outside of official dining operations.

2.2 Coaches and athlete data access

Coaches and athletic staff who access athlete meal-log and nutrition data through the TrayPal coach dashboard may do so only for athletes who have explicitly consented to coach sharing during their onboarding or through their account settings. Coach access is enforced at the database level and is scoped to athletes affiliated with the coach’s institution and team. Coaches may not export, redistribute, or use athlete data outside the TrayPal platform for any purpose not directly related to supporting athlete nutrition and performance. Athletes may withdraw coach-sharing consent at any time (see the Privacy Policy, Section 6.3), and coaches must respect that withdrawal immediately upon being notified.

2.3 School data policies

All institutional users (dining operators, coaches, and administrators) are independently bound by their institution’s applicable data privacy and security policies. TrayPal does not represent or warrant that its data practices satisfy any particular institution’s specific compliance requirements. Institutions that wish to conduct a formal data privacy review prior to deployment should contact support@traypal.app.

3. Acceptable use

You agree to use TrayPal only for its intended purpose: browsing dining menus, tracking meals, participating in the student community, and accessing nutrition guidance. The following activities are strictly prohibited:

Automated access and scraping: You may not use automated tools, bots, crawlers, scrapers, or scripts to access, download, or extract data from TrayPal. You may not use the Service to build a competing product, a commercial data feed, or a derivative database. All access must be through the TrayPal user interface or officially documented APIs (if any).

Interference with service: You may not attempt to circumvent rate limits, authentication mechanisms, or row-level security policies. You may not introduce malicious code, perform denial-of-service attacks, or take any action designed to degrade the performance or availability of TrayPal for other users.

Harassment and harmful content: You may not use community features (forum posts, comments, ratings) to harass, threaten, bully, or intimidate any individual. You may not post content that is defamatory, obscene, discriminatory, or that violates any applicable law or your institution’s student conduct policies. Section 4 sets out the community standards in full and what happens when they are broken.

Privacy violations: You may not post, upload, or distribute another person’s personal information (name, contact details, location, images, or other identifying information) without that person’s explicit consent. You may not use TrayPal to surveil, track, or compile information about other users.

Intellectual property violations: You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from TrayPal’s code, design, trademarks, or content without our written permission. You may not post content that infringes the copyright, trademark, or other intellectual property rights of any third party.

Academic dishonesty facilitation: You may not use TrayPal in any manner that facilitates academic dishonesty at your institution, including using the platform to coordinate or communicate about prohibited academic conduct.

4. Community standards

TrayPal has zero tolerance for objectionable content and for abusive users. This covers everything you put on TrayPal that other people can see: posts, Polls, comments, reviews, ratings, photos, and your username, display name and profile photo. Anonymous posts are covered too; we can see who posted them.

The following are not allowed:

• Harassment, bullying or intimidation of any person, including dining staff and other students.
• Hate speech: attacks on people because of race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability or age.
• Sexual content or nudity.
• Threats of violence, or content that encourages self-harm.
• Spam, scams, or repeated off-topic or automated posting.
• Impersonating another person, a school office, or TrayPal.
• Doxxing: posting someone’s phone number, address, schedule, private messages or photos without their consent.
• Anything that breaks the law or your school’s student conduct code.

Content that breaks these rules is removed. Accounts that post it are suspended or removed, without a warning in serious cases. We review every report within 24 hours of receiving it.

To report something, open the ⋯ menu on any post, Poll or comment by someone else and choose Report; you can add a reason and details. Choose Block to hide everything from that person; their content disappears from your feed right away, and they are not told. On the website, reviews carry a Report button. You can also email support@traypal.app. The Community Guidelines say the same thing in plain language and form part of these Terms.

5. Menu data accuracy and availability

TrayPal displays dining menu information sourced from DineOnCampus and other third-party systems. Menu data may be delayed, incomplete, or inaccurate due to changes made by the dining operator after our last data fetch, scraping or parsing errors, or system outages. Section 6 covers nutrition and allergen information.

We do not guarantee continuous availability of the Service. TrayPal may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, infrastructure issues, or circumstances outside our control. We are not liable for any loss or inconvenience resulting from Service unavailability.

6. Health and allergen information

Menu, nutrition and allergen information on TrayPal comes from your school’s dining provider. TrayPal does not check it, and it can be wrong, incomplete or out of date: recipes change, dishes get swapped, and our copy of the menu can lag behind the dining hall. Nutrition facts, dietary badges and menu filters are estimates built from that data.

If you have a food allergy, intolerance or a medical diet, confirm ingredients with dining staff before you eat. Do not rely on TrayPal’s filters or badges for allergen safety.

Nothing on TrayPal is medical advice. Calorie and macro targets are general estimates from the height, weight, activity level and goals you enter. Talk to a doctor or dietitian before making big changes to how you eat, especially if you are under 18 or have a health condition. TrayPal accepts no liability for reactions or harm that result from relying on menu, nutrition or allergen data shown in the Service.

7. No affiliation with third-party operators

TrayPal is an independent product. It is not operated by, affiliated with, or endorsed by Chartwells, Aramark, Sodexo, DineOnCampus, or any educational institution, unless expressly stated in a formal agreement. The use of third-party names, trademarks, menu data, or brand references within TrayPal does not imply any partnership, sponsorship, or approval by those parties, and does not make them responsible for TrayPal’s operation, accuracy, or content. All trademarks and brand names remain the property of their respective owners.

8. Content you submit

You retain ownership of the content you post to TrayPal (forum posts, Polls, comments, reviews, ratings and photos). By submitting content, you grant TrayPal a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to store, display, and aggregate that content for the purposes of operating the Service. You represent that you have the right to submit the content and that it does not violate any third-party rights or applicable law.

We reserve the right to remove content that violates these Terms, that is reported by other users, or that we determine in our reasonable judgment is harmful to the community or the Service. We are not obligated to monitor all content but may do so.

If you are a rights holder or authorized agent and believe that content on TrayPal infringes your intellectual property rights or should be removed for another legal reason, contact support@traypal.app with the relevant URL, a description of the content at issue, and the basis for your request. We will review and respond within a reasonable time.

9. Rewards (coins)

Coins are points you earn for activity on TrayPal, such as rating a dish, writing a review or sharing a Poll. Coins cannot be bought, sold or transferred, and they have no cash value. Whether a review is positive or negative has no effect on the coins it earns. Signed-in students may redeem coins for the rewards listed in the TrayPal shop on the website while those rewards are available; a reward may be changed, limited or withdrawn, and the coins program itself may change or end at any time without compensation. Coins are forfeited when an account is deleted or removed under Section 11. Apple is not a sponsor of, and is not involved in, any TrayPal reward.

10. Disclaimer of warranties and limitation of liability

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, TrayPal disclaims all warranties, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and accuracy of data. Nothing on TrayPal constitutes medical, nutritional, dietary, or legal advice. You are solely responsible for how you interpret and act on information provided by the Service, including menu data, nutritional summaries, and macro recommendations.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, TrayPal’s total cumulative liability to you for any claims arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of the Service, whether in contract, tort, strict liability, or otherwise, shall not exceed the greater of (a) one hundred U.S. dollars ($100) or (b) the total amounts you have paid to TrayPal (if any) in the 12 months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim.

In no event shall TrayPal be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages (including loss of data, loss of revenue, or personal injury) even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or the limitation of certain damages. If you reside in such a jurisdiction, some of the limitations above may not apply to you.

11. Account termination

11.1 Termination by you

You may delete your account at any time through Profile → Settings → Delete account within the app, or by emailing support@traypal.app with the subject line “Account Deletion Request.” Deleting in the app is immediate and permanent: your access to TrayPal ends and your account, content and personal data are deleted at once and cannot be restored. A request by email is completed within 30 days. Both follow the Privacy Policy.

11.2 Termination by TrayPal

We may suspend or terminate your account, with or without notice, if we determine that you have violated these Terms (including the community standards in Section 4), engaged in fraudulent or abusive behavior, or if your institutional email domain is no longer authorized. We may also terminate accounts in connection with a shutdown or discontinuation of the Service. Where reasonably practicable, we will provide advance notice of termination.

11.3 Effect of termination

Upon termination for any reason, your right to use the Service ends immediately. Sections 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 12, and 13 of these Terms survive termination and remain in full force.

12. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Connecticut, United States of America, without regard to its conflict-of-law provisions. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of TrayPal that is not resolved informally shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Hartford County, Connecticut. You consent to personal jurisdiction and venue in those courts.

Before initiating any formal legal proceeding, you agree to contact support@traypal.app and attempt to resolve the dispute informally for a period of at least 30 days. This informal resolution requirement does not apply to injunctive or emergency relief.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will post the revised Terms with a new effective date and version number. For material changes, we may require you to affirmatively accept the updated Terms within the product before continuing to use the Service. Continued use of TrayPal after a non-material update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. You are responsible for reviewing the Terms periodically.
